THROWS AND SCARAFS

Every scarf or throw from Pia Jensen’s loom is the result of unique combinations of materials and colours.

Both scarves and throws are created in small series only, as yarns and textiles are only available or dyed in limited amounts. The exclusive character of her products is further underscored by the many stories woven into the pieces – like the silk she brought home from Syria or the lichen-dyed wool from Iceland.

ALPACA THROW

100% baby alpaca.
100% unique.
210 x 150 cm.
Baby alpaca is the finest, softest quality there is. The delicate fibres trap air and can be used to weave warm, lightweight throws. Each throw has a unique colourway, and for an added sense of life and dynamic I use a different weave on each side.

WINTER WAFFLES

Baby alpaca, organic wool, silk-wool blend.
100% unique. 165 x 22 cm.
Winter waffles are light, warm, unique scarves in a modified waffle weave created in a never-ending play with colourways, where each scarf has its own unique signature.

SYRIAN SILK SHAWL

Handspun Syrian silk, wool-silk blend, pure wool, handspun raw silk.
100% unique. 190 x 57 cm.
The shawl is woven of handspun Syrian silk – bought on a visit to Syria’s rich culture in 2010 directly from the spinner. In Syria, weavers working in the shadow of the mountain turn the handspun silk into narrow lengths of fabric, which the spinner then joins together with a delicate crocheted border. I sought to apply the same principle in my personal interpretation, where each of the seven shawls has its own unique combination of yarns and patterns. The shawls are woven with great respect for the Syrian spinner’s method and with inspiration from the vibrant ornamentation I saw during my visit.

SUMMER WARMERS

Baby alpaca, organic wool, silk-wool blend.
100% unique. 160 x 20 cm.
I call these little scarves summer warmers. They are light and narrow, and with one of these wrapped round your neck you will stay warm enough to walk barefoot all day long.

ICELANDIC WINTER

Pure wool, wool-silk blend, lichen-dyed Icelandic wool
100% unique. 200 x 40 cm.
Hand-woven scarf in a combination of different varieties of wool. One of eight unique scarves woven as a little story after my journey through a white, snowclad Iceland in March 2019.

180-FRINGE

100% baby alpaca.
100% unique. 150 x 20 cm.
Fringe benefits: when I don’t have enough yarn for a full-size throw, I use what I have to make the most delightful little scarves. Narrow woven lengths with an abundant fringe – no fewer than 180 twisted ends.
