A bespoke sound-dampening wall-hanging for the meeting room at the historic Round Tower in central Copenhagen. A decorative project at the offices of the Danish Crafts & Design Association following the exhibition ‘Rummets Uendelighed’ (The Infinity of Space) at Officinet. In the exhibition, the entire exhibition venue was transformed into a spatial installation which the audience could only experience by stepping inside. Participation in the Islamic Art Festival in the United Arab Emirates with a new variant on this installation with the same ambition of exploring whether it is possible to recreate the experience of standing in an infinite space.

Creating a site-specific piece for a room or a building requires a particular gaze. An eye for details and the larger whole that makes it possible to convey the unique story of the room or the site as intended. To tie the treads together into a coherent whole that works in practice in the given context. That is an art that Pia Jensen masters to perfection, thanks to her sensitive awareness of the many different elements in the process, including architecture, history, materiality and functionality. The fact that a piece such as ‘Rummets Uendelighed’ is also rich in design elements that can be translated into floor tiles, room dividers or light sculptures is only an added benefit and evidence that when the underlying concept is strong, the possibilities are endless.
